TRVR? NEW RELEASE: BETTER OFF ALONE?

You may recognize TRVR? from his missing-person posters all around Los Angeles and if you don’t, we promise there is nothing to worry about. The only thing missing is his previous artist identity.  He “killed” his teenage American Idol artist name and birthed a new era;  An adult era if you will. “better off alone” is his latest single and exploration of his new identity. Today, TRVR? shares with us what went into both this newest single and new identity.

 

THE HONEY: WHAT IS THE STORY/MESSAGE WITH YOUR SONG “BETTER OFF ALONE”? WHAT WAS THE INSPIRATION?

TRVR?: “It started from seeing people I know struggle to regulate their emotions. I have a lot of artist friends who make themselves sit inside sadness so they have something to write about, and that is so unhealthy and toxic. I think that stems as a byproduct of the society we have created and now live in. Where everything we do needs to be productive or else we’re wasting time. That’s not a sustainable, or happy, way to live.”

 

THE HONEY: WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE LYRIC OF THE SONG? BREAK IT DOWN FOR US!

TRVR?: “‘Corporation got a stake in mental health.’ There’s a lot of profit to be made in sowing hate and discourse. I’ve noticed corporations want us to hate ourselves so we buy their products, politicians want us to hate each other so we vote for them, etc. If we stay depressed and continue not to show the people in our community love and compassion, then the people oppressing us win.”

 

THE HONEY: WE WOULD LOVE TO HEAR ABOUT YOUR RECENT CHANGE IN ARTIST NAME! WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO MAKE THE CHANGE TO ‘TRVR?’

TRVR?: “I wanted to break away from my old self. I felt like Trevor Douglas (R.I.P.) had done all he could and all he needed to. I wanted a fresh start and a little separation from that 16 year old kid who auditioned for American Idol. I started writing music that really reflected my new take on life and it didn’t feel right for it to be under that name. So I killed Trevor Douglas, buried him deep in Palm Desert, and TRVR? was born!”

TRVR?: “I’m playing at The Cicada in Fort Worth on June 17th! Super excited to be playing a hometown show!”
