SIOBHAN LINNANE: ‘9 TO 5’ MUSIC VIDEO

We’re back again with another video release from the one and only Siobhan Linnane! ‘9 to 5’ by Siobhan Linnane featuring Donovan Bogney is an anthem for all women who aspire to show the world what they’re capable of regardless of the pushback from the male ego. This song speaks to the part of us that uses feelings to fuel the desire to chase our dreams and achieve the success that comes with them. Throughout the video, Siobhan uses different scenarios that give us a visual understanding of what it means to “boss up” no matter what your situation is.

THE HONEY: WHAT IS THE STORY/MESSAGE WITH YOUR SONG? WHAT WAS THE INSPIRATION?

SIOBHAN LINNANE: “The message of the song is, “get out of your feelings & into your bag.” I was inspired by all of the times I’ve come into contact with the male ego since I started progressing with my music. It doubles in meaning because, at one point, I was writing to push myself. Focus on making money Bhanny, don’t let anyone see you sweat, channel that anger into something worthy. It’s a middle finger to the male ego and a simultaneous power fist to all the black women who know when to buckle down & get it done. It’s me saying, ‘I am angry & tired too, but here I am, doing what I gotta do.’”

THE HONEY: WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE LYRIC OF THE SONG? BREAK IT DOWN FOR US!

SIOBHAN LINNANE: “’You n****s be dishin’ all d*mn day, but can you take it?’

I like it because it’s straight to the point & so am I. A lot of people like to dish it out as they see fit, but very few can take it.”

THE HONEY: ANYTHING ELSE YOU WANT TO SHARE ABOUT THIS SONG?

SIOBHAN LINNANE: “S/O to Ish D, he came as a saving grace. He’s a very talented producer & I’m really excited to release the other stuff we’ve been working on. S/O to Duvy, Zan, Marion, Tae, Mayra, & last but definitely not least, Donovan Bogney !! Without them, the video would not have been what it was.”
