SINCESYD NEW RELEASE: KILL ME SOFTLY

sinceSYD has released his debut single, “kill me, softly,” and although he may seem like the new kid on the block, we’re preparing for a takeover. With aesthetics that give us Dominic Fike vibes and sounds that remind us of our punk days refined into sad boy music, we’re calling it now. sinceSYD will be the next big talent coming out of Texas. If that isn’t enough for you, he’s actually a really chill, down to earth human being, which we think is pretty cool too. Enough about what we think though, read on to hear from sinceSYD on his newest release “kill me, softly,” and how he was inspired to turn a toxic relationship into a work of art.

THE HONEY: WHAT IS THE STORY/MESSAGE WITH YOUR SONG? WHAT WAS THE INSPIRATION?

SINCESYD: “Kill me, softly is about a toxic relationship and the painful spirals that come out such an experience. The song is about a person who feels like they’re being used over and over again. We wrote it from the perspective of someone who is actually dead and decaying. They want peace in death but they’ll never find it because the one who broke their heart/killed them continues to bring them back to life whenever they’re in need of something. It’s this painful cycle of having your heart broken, dying, and then being brought back to life only to repeat the cycle.”

THE HONEY: WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE LYRIC OF THE SONG? BREAK IT DOWN FOR US!

SINCESYD: “

“’Time and Time again I let myself fall for your spell, you love to see me broken I can tell.”

This line is so relatable… It’s wild how we can fall for someone’s bullshit over and over again when we know their intentions aren’t good. Someone can be super sweet on the surface, they can be beautiful, and have the best personality, but when it comes to truly caring for you they can be ice cold.”

THE HONEY: ANYTHING ELSE YOU WANT TO SHARE ABOUT THIS SONG?

SINCESYD: “I wrote kill me, softly one year ago with my best friend/ producer fortune (Christian), Paxton, & Desmond. Leading up to writing this song I was planning on quitting music and trying something new. But I decided to give it one more go. Luckily fortune and I were connected through our friend Hannah via Instagram. I flew the homies out for a weekend and we ended up writing/ recording kill me, softly. It’s such a sad song at its core but it definitely brought me a lot of joy. This song saved me in a lot ways, I was going through a tough breakup while trying to find my voice as an artist…it was like my anthem. I’m glad that it’s out, and I’m looking forward to sharing the songs that I have been writing with the team over the last two years very soon!”
