ASHTON EDMINSTER NEW RELEASE: HEADIN OUT
Ashton Edminster has released her first single of the year “Headin Out,” and has not left us disappointed. Per usual we plan to have her beautiful vocals and sweet words on repeat as she always has a way of calming us after a long day. Dubbed as the situationship anthem of the Summer we have a feeling a lot of people will relate to the sometimes confusing but always exciting flings we find ourselves in from time to time.
THE HONEY: WHAT IS THE STORY/MESSAGE WITH YOUR SONG “HEADIN OUT”? WHAT WAS THE INSPIRATION?
ASHTON EDMINSTER: “‘Headin Out’ was just my personal narrative of a situationship I went through last year. It was just kind of that moment where I knew we both had feelings for eachother but due to circumstances we had no idea if it was ever going to truly be something. So this song is just laying the question of ‘what are we? what are we going to be?’ on the line. I think a lot of people can relate to the fact that dating today can be so vague so this really is for anyone in that same situation of the whole ‘will we, won’t we’ type thing.”
THE HONEY: WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE LYRIC OF THE SONG? BREAK IT DOWN FOR US!
ASHTON EDMINSTER: “My favorite lyric is probably ’cause all our unspoken words they seem quiet, but baby I’m comfortable with all the silence’. My best friend/creative director Madi Bounds (@madibounds) actually put my thoughts to that lyric!! She knew exactly who the song was about and how this guy and I always had kind of an unspoken ‘thing’ but never wanted to push it. It’s a delicate matter of wanting to pursue something but if that jeopardizes just having that person in your life then it’s best to just leave things as is. Sometimes it seems like an exhausting back and forth but that’s what makes it a little fun I guess.”
THE HONEY: ANYTHING ELSE YOU WANT TO SHARE ABOUT YOUR RELEASE?
ASHTON EDMINSTER: “‘Headin Out’ has been probably my favorite release so far just because of all that went into it. I wrote it all in one night alongside my producer CJ (@hellospcmn) at my apartment in Deep Ellum and it was just one of those things where we both knew it was going to be a good song. This song really is for the exciting summer romances that may never end up being anything but, at least they’re interesting. It really is a ‘situationship’ anthem (or at least it’s mine haha).”
