GUTTER PUNK NEW RELEASE: SUGAR

We would like to introduce you to Gutter Punk. An artist who can put you in a trance with his music in less than five seconds flat. Or at least that’s how we feel about “Sugar,” his latest release. Gutter Punk’s music feels like you’re listening to a montage of someones love life; which he attributes as being bittersweet. This montage however, is his relationship with music.  Gutter Punk is one of those artists who makes you feel emotion through his songs. While for him it might relate to music, the listener unknowingly can relate it to whatever situationship in life they are going through. He even shared with us reflecting on his release felt therapeutic. If there is something we understand here at The Honey, it is definitely therapy through music.  “Sugar,” is the first release to come from Gutter Punk from his upcoming album and we can’t wait for more. But, for now, here is what Gutter Punk has to say about “Sugar.”

THE HONEY: WHAT IS THE STORY/MESSAGE WITH YOUR SONG “SUGAR”? WHAT WAS THE INSPIRATION?

GUTTER PUNK: “Sugar was written as a little semi-sarcastic, tongue-in-cheek stab at the bittersweet highs and lows of trying to “make it” as an independent artist. I feel like a lot of my music stems from the impatience I feel with my own progress. However, when I take a step back, I realize how much fun I’m having in this process. As much as I’d like to be here or there, I know I would miss the simple life I’m currently living. Ain’t it sweet?”

THE HONEY: WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE LYRIC OF THE SONG? BREAK IT DOWN FOR US!

GUTTER PUNK: “One of my favorite parts in the song is the couple lines right before the first chorus, which are ‘It’s not fair, I know/No one cares, oh no.’ When I play the song live I usually punctuate this line by condescendingly drawing a little tear stream down my face with my finger, because I guess the whole point of it is like ‘What? You want them to feel bad for you? Go cry about it’.

THE HONEY: ANYTHING ELSE YOU WANT TO SHARE ABOUT “SUGAR”?

GUTTER PUNK:
“The video that I made to accompany the song is just a further extension of that sentiment of appreciating how much fun I’m having as I’m trying to find my place in the world. It consists of some of my favorite memories of the past six months, so many of my favorite people and so many of the awesome bands that I’ve grown to call my friends. Some people have complained about the grainy iPhone footage, but that’s kinda the whole point. It’s almost like a found-footage documentary of my life.”
