CHLOE JOBIN NEW RELEASE: A DIFFERENT LIGHT
Chloe Jobin has hit hard with her newest EP “A Different Light.” All of Chloe’s releases give us something to think about, as they (in our opinion) are such self reflective pieces with a strong sense of self. With “A Different Light,” we learned she produced and engineered the entire EP herself; she even went as far as releasing it without anyone else hearing it first. That is impressive… And really shares the message that she wanted to make sure this was fully self representative and not changed or affected by the opinion of others. (In today’s day and age that is close to unheard of.) That is a strong, empowering choice that we can stand behind! Chloe continues to pave the way for strong female artists which is one of the many reasons we will always share and support her. It is a refreshing take on music, something that feels honest and real; nothing less. Read on to hear more from her on her beautiful EP “A Different Light.”
THE HONEY: WHAT IS THE STORY/MESSAGE WITH YOUR EP “A DIFFERENT LIGHT”? WHAT WAS THE INSPIRATION?
CHLOE JOBIN: “This project explores what it means to perceive or understand someone or something in a new light. It represents having an open mindset as you discover who you are and striving to find the positive influences/lessons to take from your life situations. Many songs express feelings of regaining self-belief through doing what is best for yourself and letting go of anything hindering you from moving forward.”
THE HONEY: WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE SONG ON THE EP? BREAK DOWN THE SONG FOR US! (AND DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE LYRIC IN THE SONG?!)
CHLOE JOBIN: “I think my favorite song to produce/record was track 2, ‘When I Didn’t Believe.’ I initially made the beat just as a beat breakdown video to post as an IG reel, but I immediately got inspired to write to the beat. I wrote the song’s hook first, about a ‘shift’ in your attitude once you have more faith and confidence in your work.
The lyrics to the hook are:
‘Fuck how you talk
Why you talking to me
I remember back when I didn’t believe
Now I gotta make the whole world see
Not to be controlled
We can only be free‘
To paraphrase that hook, that is me saying:
(If you’re speaking to me disrespectfully, I will not listen to you. I used to doubt myself, but now I have an undoubted belief in myself. I am not proving myself but exposing myself through my art to whoever chooses to “see me.” I am the leader of my own life, and I decide how I will live. I will make my own decisions based on what is best for me.)“
THE HONEY: ANYTHING ELSE YOU WANT TO SHARE ABOUT THIS SONG?
CHLOE JOBIN: “I wrote, produced, and engineered this project at my home studio in South Dallas. This EP is the first project of mine I entirely produced and engineered without other ears listening/any input from other people. Because of this, it truly does feel like my most honest and authentic work to date.”
