CASPER NEW RELEASE PRIMA DONNA
In the words of Faisal Malas (Caspers manager), DFW artist Casper “will be one to champion,” and we’re starting to agree. Casper first caught our attention with his release “Climb,” as we noticed he had an eye for aesthetics and a witty way about his words. In his newest release “Prima Donna,” he explains the song reflects diva behavior but instead of promoting it like most he shares why it’s not a lifestyle (or character trait) he chases.
THE HONEY: WHAT IS THE STORY/MESSAGE WITH YOUR SONG? WHAT WAS THE INSPIRATION?
CASPER: “Prima Donna is about temptation: being pulled between what you want and what’s right. It was inspired by a few messy situations I’ve found myself caught in over the last few years. Some are better left for dead and some are lessons better learned the hard way.”
THE HONEY: WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE LYRIC OF THE SONG? BREAK IT DOWN FOR US!
CASPER: “‘Bags on my eyes, on my head babe / body dollar sign you ain’t fair babe.’ The themes I carried through this song can be boiled down to expensive taste and prima donna/diva behavior. So, this line flips that with the idea that chasing something that looks good on the outside can leave you exhausted and empty.”
THE HONEY: ANYTHING ELSE YOU WANT TO SHARE ABOUT THIS SONG?
CASPER: “It’s the first song I did with Chris Hatam (@chrishatam), who produced this track and a few others on my upcoming project. He’s a genius and always brings the most cinematic ideas to the table. It was a wild experience to go back and forth to bring that energy on this track. And that’s not to mention the magic he worked on the mix and master.”
