AVERI BURK CALI BABY NEW RELEASE

DFW artist Averi Burk released her long awaited summer bop “Cali Baby,” where she sings about missing her ‘baby-girl’ while she’s away in California. It’s an upbeat theme song for July that shares the all-too-familiar summer blues.

THE HONEY: WHAT IS THE STORY/MESSAGE WITH YOUR SONG? WHAT WAS THE INSPIRATION?

AVERI BURK: “The song was inspired by my girlfriend being out of town for three weeks visiting home. Essentially it’s about her being in California and me being in Texas wishing I was on the beach with her instead of sitting by my pool and being stuck in the house.”

THE HONEY: WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE LYRIC OF THE SONG? BREAK IT DOWN FOR US!

AVERI BURK: “My favorite lyric is: ‘I say I’m good but you’re calling my bluff; Been missing you, FaceTime’s not enough.’ I think this line is very simple but cute. It’s that feeling of missing your person and you need to be with them physically because FaceTime isn’t cutting it…. Yet you’re trying to act like you’re fine.”

THE HONEY: ANYTHING ELSE YOU WANT TO SHARE ABOUT THIS SONG?

“This song is super fun and very pop influenced, which I’m not used to. It’s very happy sounding but talks about a sad topic. I hope y’all luvvvv🖤🖤🖤”
