ASHTON EDMINSTER NEW RELEASE BRING ME FLOWERS

You might recognize Ashton Edminster from a previous SOUNDHCECK Session on The Honey and if you don’t, you might want to take note now. Ashton may be a familiar face around here and that’s all we’re going to say; wink, wink. Ashton’s newest release, “Bring Me Flowers,’ shows her artistry taking strides in her own musical identity. We continue to get more of an R&B influence mixed with her original indie alternative feel. We love the consistent strong smooth vocals and guitar with a new Ashton twist each release.

THE HONEY: WHAT IS THE STORY/MESSAGE WITH YOUR SONG “BRING ME FLOWERS”? WHAT WAS THE INSPIRATION?

ASHTON: “I wrote the song about three years ago because I just thought about how every time I’ve received flowers from someone it just felt like so much more than a material gift. I really do feel like flowers have such a deeper meaning and so the inspiration behind the whole song was just that like. I don’t care about gifts or material things but I feel like you’re starting to care less so if you can just do one small thing, bring me flowers.”

THE HONEY: WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE LYRIC IN “BRING ME FLOWERS”? BREAK IT DOWN FOR US!

ASHTON: “‘Bring me flowers that you think look like me, bring me flowers with my energy.’ If you do the research, every flower has a different meaning and I’ve always been so fascinated by that. I think that line really plays in to the ‘I wanna know you’re thinking about me without like having to prompt you’ idea. If I’m ever out and see something that reminds me of someone, I’ll tell you or let you know in some way. I think it says a lot when a significant other brings you flowers and says, ‘these made me think of you,’ like it’s so simple yet says so much.”

THE HONEY: IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE YOU WANT TO SHARE ABOUT YOUR SONG “BRING ME FLOWERS”?

ASHTON: “I had so much fun creating the track for the song with CJ (@hellospcmn), like he completely understood my vision for this song and it came out so perfect. Also recording the vocals with Natty (@thaniabear) was so fun. The whole vibe in the studio was insane and just an absolute blast. Those guys really got inside my head and made this song such a dream. I can’t believe how well the song is being received by everyone and I’m so insanely grateful for all the love shown on it so far!”
