ZEKE FOREVER NEW RELEASE HABIT

DFW based artist Zeke Forever dropped his newest single “Habit,” along with a (very) aesthetically pleasing visual. There’s a pure, bright energy to this artist that can’t possibly be missed and we’re loving it. We wanted to know everything that went into his single along with what’s to come from the rest of his project “Retrograde.”

THE HONEY: WHAT IS YOUR STORY/MESSAGE WITH YOUR SONG? WHAT WAS THE INSPIRATION?

ZEKE FOREVER: “Habit is the first official chapter from a project I am working on called “Retrograde.” I wanted to make a song that catches the essence of what it feels like when you first make a bad decision. It feels euphoric and dangerous. The song is about going back to old ways and accepting all of the consequences that may come with it. “Habit”  is based on me opening back up to someone that didn’t deserve it..The lyrics are basically the thoughts in my head while going backwards.”

THE HONEY: WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE LYRIC OF THE SONG? BREAK IT DOWN FOR US!

ZEKE FOREVER: “’In the heat of the night, when my phone turns bright and you’re getting everything that you want. I mean like seriously J’louis. Yes, we’ve been right here before..’

This is the whole song in a few lyrics. To me this was how everything happened. How everything got started. I was laying in bed feeling lonely one night and I got the text. You know? That text that opens the door to communication. Fun fact: J’louis is my middle name but it’s pronounced like “Jay- Lewis”  but when I graduated the announcer pronounced it as I did in the song. It’s an inside joke with me and my sister that every time I mess up she calls me that.”

THE HONEY: ANYTHING ELSE YOU WANT TO SHARE ABOUT THIS SONG?

ZEKE FOREVER: “This song is heavily influenced by Mary Mary, Dua Lipa, Tonex & Missy Elliot. I wrote this song after a serious case of writer’s block. I randomly heard the bass line and the words just came. There is a nod to Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance” because the relationship was in fact a bad romance.”
