LEXAAY NEW RELEASE NO REST

We first found Lexaay’s new release ‘No Rest,’ when we stumbled upon her music video that gave us nostalgia to the 90’s and made us wish we had taken more dance workout classes. We immediately added it to our Spotify favorites and found ourselves boppin’ around to it on the way to work, on the way home from work and on the way out with friends. It’s that perfect energy song that puts us in a good mood no matter the occasion. Put the windows down and ride around to this one; it’s a gem.

THE HONEY: WHAT IS THE STORY/MESSAGE WITH YOUR SONG? WHAT WAS THE INSPIRATION?

LEXAAY: “‘No Rest,’ is all about having a good time. Some of my greatest and most adventurous nights out were born out of boredom or a need to get out and explore. I got the inspiration for ‘No Rest,’ from that as well. The lyrics to the song were my reality one night during quarantine. My neighbors were upstairs getting you know..busy…and I couldn’t sleep so I hit some friends up and we went out. CLEARLY there was nothing to do because our city was shut down but we made a good time out of it. I want to encourage people to dig those old times up and create new ones with those same intentions; enjoying your people and making lasting memories.”

THE HONEY: WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE LYRIC OF THE SONG? BREAK IT DOWN FOR US!

LEXAAY: “My favorite line in the song is in the second verse. I say ‘show ya to the finer things/like them blue lights after midnight/hold ya seat tight.’ This is my favorite line because it’s kind of ode to Dallas. Now, you can find blue lights on a number of highways in the Metroplex but I remember my first time seeing them was going across this bridge on my way home from the airport. I was so excited about them that I stuck my head out of the window. Ever since that moment, besides the amazing skyline, those blue lights on the highway have been my favorite thing about Dallas.”

THE HONEY: ANYTHING ELSE YOU WANT TO SHARE ABOUT THIS SONG?

LEXAAY: “‘No Rest’ is one of my favorite songs to play when I wake up. It’s definitely something that will give you a little energy boost. We can thank @damnxela for that! Definitely make sure to check out the video shot by the good people at Nicely Done Visuals. I can’t wait to share more with the world!”
