GUAVA NEW RELEASE HEARTLESS THE MONSTER X SHILXH

Guava is one of those songs you listen to and immediately realize you’re going to be bopping to it for at least the rest of the month. After asking about the meaning behind the song we can’t help but laugh a little at how much we relate to both the confusion and impatience of the “in-like” phase with that someone we’ve been crushing on.

THE HONEY: WHAT IS THE STORY/MESSAGE WITH YOUR SONG? WHAT WAS THE INSPIRATION?
HEARTLESS: “I guess I drew from the start of previous relationships I had been in. When you’re in that are-we-or-aren’t we phase. At that point, either one of you decides to address the elephant in the room or you fizzle out. This song is that moment where you just come out and say ‘you know I’m into you and I know you’re into me so why are we pretending like we arent?'”

SHILXH: “The message behind the song to me is the uncertainty of a potential relationship; mixed signals and no answers. ‘Do you want me or are you playing games? Be straight up with me and let’s dance already.'”

THE HONEY: WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE LYRIC OF THE SONG? BREAK IT DOWN FOR US!
HEARTLESS: “My favorite lyric is definitely ‘I dont play no games and you don’t say you’re sorry.’ A lot of people think the ‘you dont say you’re sorry’ line is about not ever apologizing for anything but it’s actually about being unapologetically yourself. It sort of sets up the insanity of their current relationship like ‘if im always straightforward and you are always the truest version of yourself, then why are either of us pretending like we’re not into each other?'”

SHILXH: “My favorite lyric is probably ‘hand on my hip I’m waiting for the move,’ because I’m impatient when it comes to waiting for someone to make up their mind.”

THE HONEY: ANYTHING ELSE YOU WANT TO SHARE?
HEARTLESS: “This song means a lot to us because it, and the upcoming album, are a sound that me and Shilxh are not known for doing. For us to drop the first single and have it perform better than anything else we’ve ever made was definitely the boost of confidence we needed to keep working on the rest of the album and keep exploring and trying new things!
